# Export and store your key

Your wallet has a private key. Whoever has that key controls the funds in the wallet. Exporting it and keeping a safe copy is your backup.

## Why back it up

Normally you get back into your wallet by signing in with the same Discord account or email. If you ever lose access to that Discord account or email, your exported key is how you reach your funds. It also lets you open the same wallet in another Solana wallet app.

## How to export your key

1. Tap your name at the top of the app to open the menu.
2. Tap **Settings**.
3. Tap **Export key**.
4. Tap **Export Solana key**.

Privy opens the key in its own secure window. Your key is never shared with Zidee. If you turned on two-step verification, Privy asks for your passkey or authenticator code first.

## How to store it

* Keep it offline, for example written on paper in a safe place, or in a password manager you trust.
* Do not share it with anyone. Not with friends, not with "support", not with us.
* Do not paste it into websites, forms or chats.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Zidee and Zirodelta will never ask for your private key, seed phrase or password. Anyone who asks is trying to steal your funds. See [Scams and impersonation](/security-and-keys/scams-and-impersonation.md).
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.zidee.xyz/getting-started/export-and-store-your-key.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
